The
Butterfly Tattoo has had a lot of screenings over the past few months and got
plenty of enthusiastic responses! First of all of course the premiere at the
Film By the Sea Festival at Vlissingen on 13th of September. The
public rewarded the film with 3.8 out of the 5 stars at this festival. Next to
this an extra screening was planned during the festival due to the first two
almost sold out screenings.
After
this the film had viewings at New York and was awarded with great prizes! The
awards for Best Director and Best adaptation were granted to The Butterfly
Tattoo. But the film also got at prize at the Christopher Columbus festival in
Ohio: a Silver Chris. After this came the Dutch Film Festival where no prizes
were to be won, but where two filled up theatre rooms admired the film.
Then,
in November, a screening took place in Manchester, Great Britain, as part of
the Exposures Student Film Festival for Young People. Two very positive reviews followed
from this screening in the CultureWitch and the Pulp Magazine Online (click the links to read the
review).
All
the enthusiastic reactions at the film festivals lead some sales agents to show
interest in the film from which we chose ITN Distribution. ITN will present The
Butterfly Tattoo next year at the major film markets in Berlin, Cannes and
NATPE (Las Vegas) to international distributors. This year, in November, ITN
presented TBT at the American Film Market in Santa Monica. Quite a few meetings
followed from their great approach; TBT is one of the major films in their
portfolio with a multipage spread in their magazine.
